With a population of 12,357, Chadstone is located about 17km from the CBD.
1030 people below 15 years, 5217 people between 15 – 65 years, and 7308 people over 65 years.
Most people own their own homes in Chadstone, however renting is popular due the growing student population attending Holmesglen Tafe. The area is popular with families, however the main feature of this suburb – attracting a lot of visitors throughout the year – is the Chadstone Shopping Mall.
Streets are wide and tree lined – the suburb tends to attract a wide demographic of residents with a growing Asian population. Down-sizers, investors, first home buyers and families are all attracted to Chadstone, as the housing is more affordable than neighbouring suburbs such as Malvern East.
Mount Waverley Secondary college
St. Mary Magdalene’s Primary School
Chadstone High School
Transport – Jordanville railway station, Holmesglen railway station,
Shopping – Chadstone shopping Centre (‘The Fashion Capital’ and probably the biggest pull of visitors to the suburb. The centre contains a range of designer retailers as well as a cinema complex and restaurants. )
Housing is generally detached and post war in style. As the area has become more popular, town houses – double story in style – are popping up throughout the land scape as blocks are subdivided and a growing Asian population moves in. Units and apartment blocks are generally located closer towards the major shopping centres and Monash university campus.
